What did you expect?

Or…how to save five minutes at the start of your next conference call

“Who all do we have on the line?”

Expect more than one person to announce at once…

…causing you the unnecessary need to clarify each announcer.

“Can everyone see my screen?”

Expect no one to respond because each person thinks someone else will respond…

…causing an awkward silence, then you to re-ask the question.

Expect groups to behave as such, and change your strategy.

  • Review the participant list. Confirm attendance by name individually
  • Ask someone specific to confirm they see your screen. assume their answer stands as the group’s collective response.
