We must be more welcoming

Don’t scare them away by immediately dumping out all the legos

We each start simply

In attempts to ‘do it yourself’, we focus on a task and do what we think is necessary to complete it.

We strive to operate at scale

In attempts to perform that same task…but with income, reputation, and healthcare on the line, we unnecessarily over-complicate our operation:

We self-sabotage

When others come upon the same task…

When they search for answers…

They are now more likely to find your over-complicated answer…

They are more inclined to walk away, incorrectly assuming that’s the only way to complete their task: using your intimidating, scaled approach.

Good luck recruiting. You did this to yourself.

Teach just enough, just in time. Don’t intimidate. Don’t overcompensate.

P.S. Instead of that handbook, heed this advice: Just build websites
