Paying attention is hard.

Especially when the topic doesn’t initially interest you.

Or if your attendance in the discussion or presentation is mandatory, not voluntary.

A great presenter or instructor uses the energy of their participants to generate excitement amongst the rest of the group.

They know the material so well it seems less like a lecture and more like an engaging conversation.

At no point do you, the attendee or student, sense that the presenter wishes they were somewhere else right now.

It’s tough not to stay laser-focused on the words and actions of someone who clearly loves what they do.
